What Is Meant by Salawat Ibrahimiyah?

In general, we can understand this Salawat Ibrahimiyah as a prayer that Allah will give mercy and blessings to the Prophet Muhammad and the family of Prophet Muhammad as He has given grace and blessings to Prophet Ibrahim and the family of Prophet Ibrahim.

Hadith About Salawat Ibrahimiyah

To be honest, we can find a lot of editors at Salawat Ibrahimiyah. However, according to one hadith, the editorial team of Salawat Ibrahimiyah is as follows;

رَوَى الَإِمَامُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ أَبِيْ لَيْلَى قَالَ: لَقِيَنِيْ كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ , فَقَالَ : أَلَا أُهْدِي لَكَ هَدِيَّةً ؟ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا , فَقُلْنَا : يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ , قَدْ عَلِمْنَا كَيْفَ نُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكَ , فَكَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ : فَقُوْلُوْا : اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ , وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ , كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَجِيْدٌ , اَللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ , وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ , كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَجِيْدٌ

Imam Muslim narrated from Abu Laila. He (Abu Laila) said, “Ka’ab bin Ujrah has met me, then he said,” Will I give you a gift? Indeed, Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam has met us. We then said, “O Messenger of Allah, truly we already know how to greet you. But how do we say salawat to you? ” He then said, “Say it; “O our Lord, give mercy to Muhammad and to Muhammad’s family, as You have given mercy to Abraham’s family. Verily You are the Most Praiseworthy and Most Glorious God. O our Lord, give blessings to Muhammad and to Muhammad’s family, as Thou hast blessed Abraham’s family. Surely You are the Most Praiseworthy and the Most Glorious. “

O our Lord, give mercy to Muhammad and to Muhammad’s family, as You have given mercy to Abraham’s family. Verily You are the Most Praiseworthy and Most Glorious God. O our Lord, give blessings to Muhammad and to Muhammad’s family, as Thou hast blessed Abraham’s family. Surely You are the Most Praiseworthy and the Most Glorious.

As for the chronology of why the Prophet Muhammad explained it, it was because his friends (Sahabi) did not know how to say Salawat to him, especially when they were praying. And, the good news is, that Salaway Ibrahimiyah is the Salawat that we always read when we are praying, either when we do the first Tashahud or when we do the last Tashahud, both when we do the obligatory prayers, such as Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and so on. , or when we perform sunnah prayers (which are recommended), such as Qabliyah prayers, Ba’diyah prayers, and so on.

The other salawat Ibrahimiyah editors are as follows;

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ , وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ , كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيْمَ , عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ , وَ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ , وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ , كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيْمَ , وَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ فِيْ الْعَالَمِيْنَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَجِيْدٌ

O our Lord, give mercy to Muhammad and to Muhammad’s family, as You have given mercy to Abraham and Abraham’s family. And, give blessings to Muhammad and to Muhammad’s family, as you have given blessings to Ibrahim and Abraham’s family in the universe. Surely You are the Most Praiseworthy and the Most Glorious.
