The Meaning of Surah Al-Fatihah ~ Hi all readers! I think we all know what Surah al-Fatihah is. That is one of the required readings in prayer. Without it, our prayers are invalid, except for people who really cannot read them. You must know that many Muslim scientists discuss the meaning of Surah al-Fatihah. We can find that in various commentaries. Of course, as Muslims, we must know that. That’s why I wrote this article. So, if you want to know that, then you should read this article to the end!

All Readers! In Surah al-Fatihah there are seven verses of the Quran. But some argue that the first verse does not include surah al-Fatihah. That is why there are Muslim scholars who say that reading the first verse in surah al-Fatihah is not an obligation. But in this article, I will explain the meaning of the seven verses in the surah.

Verses of Surah Al-Fatihah

The seven verses of surah al-Fatihah that I mean are as follows;

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ١ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ٢ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٣ مَٰلِكِ يَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ ٤ إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ ٥ ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ ٦ صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ غَيۡرِ ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ ٧

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful [1] [All] praise is [due] to Allah, the Lord of the worlds [2] The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful [3] Sovereign of the Day of Recompense [4] It is You we worship and You we ask for help [5] Guide us to the straight path [6] The path of those upon whom you have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray [7]. (Al-Fatihah [1]; 1-7).

The Meaning of Surah Al-Fatihah

(بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ) The point is that it explains the name of Allah, the All-Merciful and the Most Merciful.

(ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ) The point is that all praise and thanks are the property of Allah, because He has given a lot of pleasure to believers in Him. He also always blessed them and will put them into Heaven.

(رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ) The point is that God is God who created the universe and all the creatures in it. He also always gives them sustenance and changes them from one condition to another.

(ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ) The point is that Allah is a God who loves good people and bad people. He also has kept them from various diseases.

(ٱلرَّحِيمِ) The point is that Allah covered the sins of His servants in the world, blessed them in the hereafter, and put them in Heaven.

(مَٰلِكِ يَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ) The point is that Allah is the Lord who rules the Doomsday.

(إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ) The point is that we only worship God, not others. That we worship only you, not others.

(وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ) The point is that we only ask God for help. That only to You (Allah) we ask for help to worship. That there is no power that can prevent someone from disobedience except only the power of God, and no strength can help someone to obey except Allah’s power.

(ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ) The point is (O Allah), add faith in our hearts and make us people who always get guidance.

(صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ) The point is the religion of those who have been given the faith and guidance by God. They are Prophets, good people, people who died for defending Islam.

(غَيۡرِ ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِ عَلَيۡهِمۡ) The point is not that the religion of the Jews is wrath of God.

(وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ) The point is not that the religion of Christians is far from Islam.
