Some of the hadiths about month of Dhul Hijjah and its virtues I mean are as follows;

عَنْ أَبِيْ هُرَيْرَةَ , عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : مَا مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللهِ مِنْ أَنْ يُتَعَبَّدَ لَهُ فِيْهَا مِنْ عَشْرِ ذِيْ الْحِجَّةِ , يَعْدِلُ صِيَامُ كُلِّ يَوْمٍ بِسَنَةٍ , وَكُلُّ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْهَا بِقِيَامِ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ

From Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said, “There is no day that Allah prefers for Him to be worshiped on that day than ten days in the month of Dhul Hijjah. Fasting every day (in that month) is equivalent to fasting for one year. Every night (in that month) is equivalent to worship on Laylat al-Qadr night.”

رَوَى بَعْضُ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ لَا يَدْعُ صِيَامَ تِسْعِ ذِيْ الْحِجَّةِ

Some of wife of Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam related, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam never left fasting for nine days in the month of Dhul Hijjah.”

عَنْ جَابِرٍ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : مَا مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أَفْضَلُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ عَشْرِ ذِيْ الْحِجَّةِ

From Jabir, from the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said, “There is no more special day according to Allah than ten days in the month of Dhul Hijjah.”

All Readers! Actually, there are several other hadiths that explain the month of Dhul Hijjah and its virtues. I don’t need to quote all the hadiths that explain that. I think the three hadiths above are enough to explain the purpose of the theme of our discussion.

  • The three hadiths above explain the virtue of the month of Dhul Hijjah.
  • The first hadith explained, that the first ten days in the month of Dhul Hijjah are the days that are very liked by Allah. The point is, that a Muslim is highly encouraged to perform worship on those days because he will get a lot of merits as described in the hadith.
  • Prophet Muhammad always fasted for the first nine days of Dhul Hijjah. Of course, that explains how glorious the month is and how important worship is on those days.
  • The first ten days of the month of Dhul Hijjah are the very special days according to Allah. Of course, for a Muslim to do a lot of worship these days.
