Are you searching for a description regarding the Sunnah of cutting nails on Friday? If your answer is "Of course," congratulations! You are currently reading the best short post on this topic. Why? Because that is what I will discuss in this article. As Muslims, we must understand this, which is why I composed this short post. So, be sure to read it thoroughly!

There are three essential points regarding the Sunnah of cutting nails on Friday that I will discuss in this article. The three important points are as follows:

Benefits of Cutting Nails in Islam

The first essential point I want to discuss regarding the Sunnah of cutting nails on Friday is the benefits of cutting nails in Islam. It is important to understand this so you can appreciate the significance of nail cutting in Islam.

Cutting nails is a common practice among many people. While some individuals choose to grow their nails for various reasons, it is clear that cutting nails is preferable. In other words, cutting nails is better than allowing them to grow long.

In Islam, there are several benefits to cutting nails. Of course, I won’t cover everything here; I will explain only the two main benefits of cutting nails in Islam.

The two main benefits are as follows:

  • Cutting nails makes it easier for Muslims to maintain cleanliness.

Generally, dirt accumulates under long nails, diminishing their appearance. In fact, many people feel uncomfortable when there is dirt on their nails. Cutting nails is a simple way to eliminate this dirt.

In Islam, there are many teachings that emphasize the importance of cleanliness. I believe you are already aware of this, so I won't elaborate further in this article.

  • Cutting nails makes it easier for Muslims to protect their chastity from minor impurities.

Our hands often come into contact with various objects. We frequently use our hands for many activities, such as eating, drinking, touching things around us, and cleaning ourselves after using the restroom.

The concern arises when there is residual stool that remains under the nails after we clean ourselves. In Islam, feces are considered impure. If our nails are long, it can be challenging to remove any remaining feces. Therefore, cutting your nails will make it easier to maintain cleanliness.

That’s a brief overview of the benefits of cutting nails in Islam. As Muslims, we must understand this.

Hadith Regarding Cutting Nails

The second essential point regarding the Sunnah of cutting nails on Friday that I will discuss now is the Hadith related to cutting nails. It is important for you to understand this because it is one of the key inquiries about cutting nails in Islam that must be comprehended well.

When we read various Islamic texts on cutting nails, we find numerous Hadiths on the subject. Of course, I won’t cover everything here; in this short post, I will only discuss a few Hadiths.

Some of the Hadiths regarding cutting nails are as follows:

From Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said, "The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) (peace be upon him) said, 'When you cut your nails, begin with the little finger, then the middle finger, then the thumb, then the ring finger, and finally the index finger, because this practice can bring you wealth.'"

From Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "There are five aspects of human nature (fitrah): circumcision, removing pubic hair, cutting the mustache, trimming the nails, and plucking armpit hair."

From Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them), it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Among the aspects of human nature (fitrah) are shaving pubic hair, trimming nails, and cutting mustaches."

From Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, 'There are ten points that are part of human nature: cutting the mustache, letting the beard grow, using a miswak, rinsing the nose with water, cutting the nails, washing the knuckles, plucking armpit hair, shaving pubic hair, and using water to clean oneself.'"

That is a brief description of the Hadith concerning cutting nails. As Muslims, we must understand this.

Sunnah to Cut Nails on Friday

The third essential point regarding the Sunnah of cutting nails on Friday that I will discuss now is a specific description. I truly hope you read the description below carefully.

Before I provide you with a solution to this inquiry, I will quote the words of Imam Sulaiman al-Jamal from his book "Hasyiyatul Jamal" regarding this matter. Please pay attention to the description below:

"It is recommended to wash the fingertips after cutting the nails because some say that scraping them before washing can lead to leprosy. The preferred days for cutting nails are Friday, Thursday, or Monday."

Dear visitors, if we understand the words of Imam Sulaiman al-Jamal, we can conclude that cutting nails on Friday is Sunnah. What is meant by Sunnah here is that it is a recommendation. However, one important point you must understand is that the suggestion or Sunnah of cutting your nails on Friday is based on the opinions of Islamic legal scholars regarding this issue. I have not found a Hadith that specifically states that cutting nails on Friday is Sunnah.

That's a brief description of the Sunnah of cutting nails on Friday. As Muslims, we must understand this.

Dear visitors, this is a short description of the Sunnah of cutting nails on Friday and some essential aspects of it. Do you understand? If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

I believe that is sufficient for this short post. May it be beneficial. Ameen.
